Psychiatric Services: Medication Management & Psychotherapy

Dr. Sharpe treats patients ages 18 and up. He specializes in treating psychiatric symptoms with medication management, with or without psychotherapy as needed.

Your first visit with Dr. Sharpe is 60 minutes long and includes a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and interview. If treatment is recommended, it will typically consist of psychotherapy (talk therapy), medications, or a combination of the two. Frequency and length of appointments are determined on a case-by-case basis depending on the individual’s needs. Follow-up appointments are 30 or 45 minutes — longer when psychotherapy is included.

Dr. Sharpe practices from a BioPsychoSocial model — treating the whole person, not a list of symptoms. Biological factors (brain chemistry, medical conditions, genetics), psychological factors (thoughts, coping patterns, life history), and social factors (relationships, work, stressors) all inform the treatment plan together.

The site has dedicated pages covering each of the services and conditions Dr. Sharpe works with most often. Patients seeking help with medication management or psychotherapy will find details on how those appointments work, while those dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, or personality disorders can read about how Dr. Sharpe approaches each condition and what to expect from treatment.
